Online therapy is available to clients located throughout Texas.
Why I Continue to Offer Online Therapy
Over time, I saw that many clients appreciated being able to attend therapy from a familiar environment without navigating traffic, arranging additional childcare, or taking as much time away from work and family responsibilities. Online therapy also allows clients who live outside Austin—or in communities with fewer therapy options—to receive specialized support from wherever they are located in Texas.
When the COVID-19 pandemic changed how therapy was delivered, I transitioned to providing sessions online. What began as a necessary adjustment became a meaningful and effective way to make therapy more accessible to adults throughout Texas.
Yes. Research has found that psychotherapy delivered through secure videoconferencing can be an effective alternative to in-person treatment for many mental health concerns.
Studies examining anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress have found that video-based therapy can produce outcomes comparable to face-to-face treatment when it is provided by a qualified clinician and is appropriate for the client’s needs.
Is Online Therapy Evidence-Based?
Research has also found that clients and therapists can develop a strong therapeutic relationship online. Trust, safety, collaboration, and genuine human connection are not limited to sharing the same physical room.
Online therapy is not simply a phone call or an informal conversation. It is professional psychotherapy delivered through a secure video platform, using many of the same evidence-informed approaches that may be used in an office.
Online therapy may be particularly helpful if you:
Live in an area with limited access to specialized therapists
Have a demanding work, parenting, or caregiving schedule
Experience health, mobility, or transportation barriers
Feel more comfortable talking from a familiar environment
Want to avoid the time and stress associated with driving to an office
Travel within Texas or need greater continuity during life transitions
Prefer the privacy and convenience of attending therapy from home
For trauma therapy, being in a familiar space may help some clients feel more grounded and comfortable. Online sessions can also allow us to practice coping skills, grounding exercises, and emotional-regulation strategies within the environment where you may use them between appointments.
What Are the Benefits of Online Therapy?
Is Online Therapy Right for Everyone?
Online therapy can be effective, but it may not be the best fit for every person or every situation. It requires a private location, a reliable internet connection, and access to a device with video and audio.
During our consultation, we can discuss what you are looking for, whether online therapy is appropriate for your needs, and how to create a comfortable and confidential space for sessions.
